Proxy detection is an assessment returned by the interface, not a connection-status check. No proxy detected does not mean all traffic is using the expected route.

What these results mean

Public IP: this browser request only

The public IP is the address our site sees as the source of this request. It is not your device’s address on your local network. After connecting your client, check again. If the IP changes, this request may be taking a different route. Also consider the selected region, routing rules, and how the target app behaves.

If the IP hasn’t changed after connecting, first check that your client is connected and that traffic to our site isn’t set to go direct. Browser extensions, system proxy settings, and how the client handles traffic can also affect the result. Don’t use this card alone to determine whether other apps use the same route.

Location and ISP: useful for a cross-check, not precise tracking

Country, region, and ISP names come from IP databases and may not reflect the latest updates. The ISP shown may be the data center or network provider used by the exit, rather than your local broadband provider. If the location doesn’t match your expectations, check again or compare another route. Don’t use it to infer your device’s actual location.

Proxy detection: not the same as a successful connection

The interface may identify the address as a proxy exit, or it may have no information about it. This page only shows an assessment explicitly returned by the interface. If a field is missing, it displays “Temporarily unavailable” rather than guessing from an IP change or ISP name. Detection does not prove that your connection is encrypted or replace a review of your privacy settings.

DNS leak check

This page checks your IP details; it does not run a DNS leak test. A changed public IP does not confirm that DNS requests are taking the same route.

DNS translates domain names into network addresses. If an app’s connection uses the selected exit but name lookups still go through an unexpected resolver, you’ll need to check the DNS route. A difference between the resolver’s region and the exit’s region doesn’t necessarily indicate a leak; public DNS services may use distributed networks.

  1. Start with a comparison. Check your IP both before and after connecting. Note the route and split-tunneling mode used by your client so results from different configurations don’t get mixed up.
  2. Review your client settings. Check DNS handling, remote resolution, and related routing options, and make sure they match the client’s documentation. Don’t apply configuration from an unverified source.
  3. Check your browser settings. Secure DNS in your browser may select a resolver independently. Compare your browser, system, and client settings to check for different DNS routes.
  4. Test DNS separately. If you use a dedicated DNS testing tool, review how it handles data before comparing the detected resolvers with your expectations. This page does not forward lookups to third-party testing services.

If the results are still unclear, use a support ticket in the dashboard to describe your platform, client mode, route region, and the issue. Before sharing a screenshot, hide account details and subscription links.

We don’t log lookups

This page retrieves IP details through our site’s interface, and we don’t log lookups. The copy button only copies the public IP currently shown to your clipboard; it won’t send it to other websites.

An IP address is still identifying network information. Before sharing a result, consider who will receive it and why; never provide your password or subscription link. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
